🎵 Stateside Sparks: New Music Inspired by Nashville & Muscle Shoals

The Sidewalk Anthem’s recent trip from Exeter to Nashville, Muscle Shoals and Athens, Alabama became a quiet creative shift for us.  Stepping into RCA Studio B and the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound rooms was a subtle, overwhelming moment - the kind that makes you rethink your sound.  The atmosphere, the history, and the feeling of standing where the greats stood left a lasting mark on how we see our music.

We played three free gigs - a pool party, a house show, and a set at the historic U.G. White Mercantile.  Sharing our original songs with warm, welcoming Southern audiences reminded us that music travels further than we ever expect.  Their openness and friendliness made the experience unforgettable and provided a deeper appreciation of the South’s people, landscapes and musical heritage.

The trip sparked two new songs, both carrying a gentle Muscle Shoals vibe: warm, spacious, and quietly soulful.  The Southern heat, long roads and river‑soaked atmosphere found their way into the writing, shaping new ideas and textures we’re excited to explore.

More than anything, this journey reminded us why we write - connection, place, and the stories that rise up when you step somewhere new.  We hope this invites you further into our world and gets you excited for the new music on the way.
